About me
David Way’s career in unscripted media spans from science consultant, to writer, director, host, series
producer, and executive producer. David trained as a molecular geneticist at McMaster University and The
Banting and Best Department of Medical Research (UOT).
As President of Great Pacific Media Way oversees IP development, new original content production, and
strategic relations with external partners. Since joining GPM in 2015 he has led the development of six
new series - Save My Reno, Heavy Rescue 401, Worst To First, Queen of the Oil Patch, High Arctic
Haulers, Mud Mountain (wt), and the expedition documentary The Teenager and the Lost Maya City -
executive producing five of the projects.
David has won two Banff World Media Festival (Rocky) Awards, four Canadian Screen (Gemini) Awards,
three Hot Docs International Documentary Festival Awards, and three Jules Verne Grand Prize awards
from the International Science Media Festival. As a network executive he has overseen over 500 hours for
OLN, Slice, Discovery Health, History, and TVO.
David loves to trail run in the BC coastal mountains. He’s been a ‘normal’ for scientific experiments, a
lumberjack, and can poorly juggle fire. Starting as a volunteer assistant in Lorne Greene’s film library,
he’s been fortunate to have many mentors and follow a life of curiosity and wonder.
