Deborah is an award-winning director and Gemini and Canadian Screen Award nominated producer who has been working in Vancouver’s television production industry since 1986. She has worked in most genres, from children’s shows (Sesame Street Canada) and music specials (The Canadian Country Music Awards) to animation (Hot Wheel Heroes), factual series (Border Security: Canada’s Front Line) and documentary one-offs (Barenaked in America). With a passion for finding compelling ways to tell real stories, Deborah has just completed a 4-part true crime documentary series for CBC, The Oland Murder, on which she was one of the series producers, the director, and one of the writers. Over the years, she has held most production line items but for almost a decade she was the Supervising Producer and Head of Creative at Force Four Entertainment (an Entertainment One company). As such, she had the privilege to oversee and collaborate with the creative teams on productions like the groundbreaking documentary series’, Keeping Canada Alive, and Keeping Canada Safe, the youth program, Tricked (YTV), and the social experiment programs, First Dates and The Audience. Deborah has a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, Human Learning and Development from the University of British Columbia and a PhD in Communication from the prestigious Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania.
