Today it is the primary intelligence-sharing and operational coordination centre in Europe, inter-connecting over 1,200 law enforcement agencies and supporting each year over 60,000 cross-border investigations of organised crime, terrorism and cyber crime.

Pioneered the use of data and technology to drive a better response across Europe to cybercrime, terrorism and other major threats. Recorded a four-fold increase in data sharing across the Europol network in 8 years. Established state-of-the-art data security and data privacy regimes.

Established the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) in 2013 and the European Counter Terrorism Centre and European Migrant Smuggling Centre, both in 2016.
